Second Flight Simulator Convention at The Museum
including a "Museums at Night" Event
15th & 16th May 2010

The second Annual British Flight Simulator Convention will be held at The Helicopter Museum at Weston- super-Mare, in 2010.
Anyone who attended the Flight Simulator weekend at the Museum in 2009 will know what a fantastic environment a museum can be for the show. The dates are Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th May 2010.

The event shows all the signs of again being one of the biggest and best in the global calendar.

People from Virtual Airlines, Clubs and the Trades will be bringing their PCs to show over 50 flight simulators of various shapes and sizes, demonstrating the controls and manoeuvrability of a myriad aircraft including helicopters, fighter jets and passenger airliners. Visitors will be able to test fly all these aircraft at no extra cost.

The theme for this year's event is "The Battle of Britain" to tie in with the 70th anniversary of the historic WWII conflict. The main attraction will be the incredible head to head "Spitfire vs Messerschmitt" dogfight simulator. Visitors will be able to climb into a reconstructed cockpit and engage in a simulated conflict over a London skyline, thanks to the very latest flight simulator technology.

As the Saturday evening arrives we go BACK TO THE BLITZ for 'Museums at Night 2010'. As air raid sirens sound and searchlights illuminate the hangars, all the flight simulators will switch over  to night flying mode and link up to recreate a gigantic air battle over a bombed and burning London.

The Ack Ack Living History Group will be bringing authentic period vehicles, tents, a shot-down Me109 mockup, a WWII Searchlight and a genuine Bofors Anti-Aircraft Gun.

Look out for members of the Home Guard and shot-down Lutwaffe pilots around The Museum !

As Event Organiser and Museum Volunteer, Simon Tolley said in 2009 "We have flight sims, of various shapes and sizes, coming in from all over the country. Leading suppliers will also be supporting us, running trade stands over the weekend. All money raised will be donated to The Helicopter Museum and to the two local Air Ambulance charities". A list of exhibitors, who have booked to participate, is shown below.

Real helicopters will be taking off and landing throughout the weekend. Among those flying in will be The Great Western Air Ambulance and The Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance, who will also have stands at The Museum. Attractions will include big screen action courtesy of Virtual RAF Battle of Britain Flypasts and 'Experience Flights' in a REAL Bell 206 Jet Ranger, on both days, at extra cost. It's sensible to BOOK Flights as soon as possible because a very busy weekend is expected. Phone 01934-635227 to check prices and to book flights. Ample free parking.

The Event is open to the public but normal entry fees to The Museum apply and these will give free admission to the Flight Simulator Show. Doors open at 10.00 am on both days while the Night Flight Simulator Display runs on the Saturday evening only. Mugs of tea, hot stew and period home made cakes will be served in The Museum NAAFI Cafe.
